A GREAT night of fun and laughs is guaranteed at the Comedy Club in The Electric Mouse this Friday night, July 28 with entertainers, Dermot McMorrow and Keith Farnan. McMorrow is a stand-up with over 10 years experience, whose polished performance is clownish, intelligent and one sandwich short of a picnic or, as The Scene put it "droll paddy-whackery and surreal observational skill".
Keith Farnan has won The Gong Show, he's made them laugh on TV's Liffey Laughs and One Night Stand, he's wowed the Kilkenny and Edinburgh Festivals. Now he's in Kiltimagh - the man who is "possessed of talent, focus and energy" (Hot Press). See "Ireland's latest comedy star" (Irish Examiner) in action!
The MC for the night is John Colleary, a star performer at last month’s club and known now to millions as one half of Today FM’s OETJ and TJ‚. He’s a quirky, quick-fire, think-on-his-feet comedian with some breath-takingly funny leaps of imagination.
Tickets are •10 and can be had on the door or in advance, at the bar or by contacting 086 8239252. Show starts at 8.30pm (bar 7pm till late).
‘A SONG AND A LAUGH’
Aonghus McAnally has announced star soprano Niamh Murray as his special guest for his new oneman show "A Song and a Laugh" in Kiltimagh Town Hall Theatre on August 19 next. Niamh, one of Ireland’s leading female vocal-ists will sing a host of Broadway musical treats. On foot of his recent appearance on the Late Late Show, Aonghus McAnally was invited to return to Kiltimagh with his show by IRD Kiltimagh. Aonghus came to Kiltimagh in 1996 when Brian Mooney was awarded Mayoman of the year and the Gay Byrne radio show broadcast live from Kiltimagh and has kept a close liaison with the reps of IRD and the development of Kiltimagh ever since.
Speaking about the forthcoming show, Aonghus said he was delighted to be opening his nationwide tour in Kiltimagh. "I am looking forward to returning to Kiltimagh as it really impressed me when I visited last. There is a great sense of community spirit and a strong interest in music and theatre. It is a number of years since I last performed in the Mayo area and I have wanted to redress the situation for quite a while. If the welcome is half as good as the last time I was in Kiltimagh then I am in for a great night!"
The Town Hall Theatre will be a great venue to open the tour." CEO of IRD, Joe Kelly, expressed his delight that Aonghus had decided on Kiltimagh for the official launch of his nationwide tour. "It is a brilliant accolade for the town and the area and we look forward to a spectacular event". If you would like further information on the show or to reserve tickets please contact IRD Kiltimagh on 094 938 1494. Booking is advised as tickets are limited. Admission is •20 with advance booking, •22 on the door.
MINOR QUARTER-FINAL
Mayo minor manager, Eugene Ivers and his squad of players, have had to put the disappointment of their defeat in the Connacht final behind them and concentrate their minds on their quarter-final meeting with Munster champions, Kerry. The match will be played in Ennis next Sunday, July 30 at 2pm. Hopefully, they will be as successful with the back-door system as they were last year when, after losing out to Galway in the Connact final, they went on to contest the All Ireland final. Eugene and team player, Liam Lydon, are wished the best of luck as they try to overcome the Kingdom as they did last year in the semi-final.

UNDER 8 GAMES
Kiltimagh Under 8s had their first match of the season on Friday, July 14 against rivals Claremorris. As usual both sides were well supported, in anticipation of what turned out to be two very exciting games of football. Due to the large numbers on both panels, two matches were played side by side.
Kiltimagh Team 1 had a storming first half and were well in front at the break. But as the saying goes it was a game of two halves. In the second half Claremorris pulled back the points and levelled the match just on the full time whistle.
Kiltimagh Team 2 had a similar game, they dominated most of the match but due to a few suspect positional changes by the coaches they also found Claremorris level at the final whistle. The standard of football of these young players was very impressive and the future of Kiltimagh football looks safe.
Team 1- Mark Ryan, Shane Brennan, Owen Carroll, Sean McGreal, Rory Grogan, Eimhin Charlton, Stephen McNicholas, Donavan Cosgrove, Cillian English, Michael Keogh, Patrick Gilmartin, Cian O’Mahony, Liam Kelly, Conor Kelly, Charlie Brennan.
