Clonbur have advanced to the quarter finals of the Galway Intermediate Football championship when the beat Menlough in Corofin last Sunday. The final score was Clonbur 1-14 to Menlough 0-8.
Des O’Donnell and Pat Lambe got Clonbur off with a point each followed by a Eoin Joyce free and Menlough full forward Sean Mannion registered their first score followed by another point for Menlough by Fintan Finnerty. Eoin Joyce (free) for Clonbur and another great point for Clonbur centrefield Tom Walsh with Menloughs Sean Mannion (free) getting another point and Michael Walsh scored another for Clonbur to leave half time score, Clonbur 0-7 to Menlough 0-4.
The second half began with Menlough attacking and they were awarded a free which Sean Mannion sent wide. At the other end Liam Carney got a good point for Clonbur added by another point for Clonbur by James Reilly with ten minutes gone. Clonbur lost Tom Feerick due to an ankle injury and Trevor Lydon replaced hi.
Pat Lambe scored another good point for Clonbur and James Reilly and Michael Walsh scored a point each for Clonbur while Sean Mannion scored a point from a free for Menlough 0-12 to 0-7.
Michael Walsh scored another great point for Clonbur and there was no way back for Menlough when James Reilly found Des O’Donnell who buried the ball in the Menlough net leaving the scores 1-13 to 0-6.
Menlough only could manage to score two more points and Clonbur were easily winners 1-14 to 0-8.
FIRST COMMUNION
The following children did their First Holy Communion in St. Patricks Church, Clonbur on Sunday, June 8th: Laura O’Donnell, Aoife Lynch, Aisling Canny, Neil Kyne, John Flanagan, Michelle Coyne, Nicola Murray, Michaela Conroy. The ceremony was performed by Canon Stephen Ludden, P.P. Clonbur.

CLONBUR GAA LOTTO
There was no winner of the lotto last week. The numbers drawn were 15, 19, 24 and 26. Two punters matched three numbers and they received E50 each, Martin Murphy, Main Street, Ballinrobe and Damien Mullins, Cong.
Next week’s jackpot will be E2650 and the draw will take place in the Shaskeen Bar, Clonbur.
