Cornamona/Clonbur - Ruby Anniversary
Congratulations to Mary Kate and Paddy Reilly, Ruffield, Clonbur who celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary last Friday night. To mark the occasion there was a function in Burkes, Clonbur which was attended by their family, friends, and neighbours. This popular and esteemed local couple are wished many more years of health and happiness. RECENT DEATH The death took place at her residence of Mrs Annie Joyce, from Rusheen Clonbur. She was nee Connelly from Rosmuck and was predeceased by her husband Jimmy in 1995 and her daughter Mary B. in 1998. Annie was a native Irish speaker coming from Rosmuck. She was a kind natured and good humoured lady who has a warm welcome for her friends and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Removal took place from her residence on Saturday evening to St. Patricks Church, Clonbur and she was buried in Ross Hill Cemetery on Sunday after Requiem Mass celebrated by Canon Stephen Ludden, P.P. Clonbur. Annie is deeply regretted by her sons Myles, and Tony, daughters Barbara and Nora Ann, daughters in law, son in law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and many friends. May her gentle soul rest in Peace. WEDDING BELLS The wedding took place last weekend at St. Patricks Church, Clonbur of Claire Conroy from Dooray, Clonbur and Mr. Michael Carr, Dromore West, Co. Sligo. Reception was held in the Galway Bay Hotel. LADIES’ FOOTBALL Connaught Intermediate Championships semi final at Clonbur on Sunday next, October 20 at 1 p.m. Moy Davitts v Clonbur. Your support would be greatfully appreciated. U21 CHAMPIONSHIP The first round of the U21 football championship was played at Clonbur on Saturday evening. The score was Clonbur 0-15 to Spiddal 1-7. At half time score Spiddal were ahead by 1-6 to Clonbur 0-4, but Clonbur played a storming second half and won in the end by five points. Clonburs best players were backs, Michael Joyce, Trevor Lydon and Kevin Joyce, Eamon OCuiv centrefield and forwards Eoin Joyce, Aidan O’Malley who scored 0-8. Clonbur now meet Cliften next Sunday in Clonbur at 3 p.m. in the final of the U21 championship.
