The Foxford Community/ Parish mission got underway on Sunday evening last, and will continue until Saturday next, October 19th. The mission which takes place in Foxford, Toomore, and Attymachugh, is conducted by the Redemptorist team which includes Fathers Tony Flannery, Pat Reynolds, and J.P. O’Riordan, and Ms. Jacqueline Dooley.
During the mission the weekday morning masses will take place in all three churches at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. the evening mission takes place in Foxford, and Attymachugh at 8 p.m. and in Toomore, at 7 p.m. The Rite of Reconciliation takes place on Wednesday evening (tomorrow) while the Anointing of the Sick takes place on Saturday next, October 19th at 11 a.m. (Foxford only). The Mission is a time of reflection and prayer for everyone in the community. It is envisaged that the good attendance to date will continue for the remainder of the mission.
WELCOME
A warm welcome is extended to Mark and Teresita Stephens who have recently moved from London, and have set up a home and business in Foxford. Their children Conor (7) and Rian (5) have settled well into Killasser National School, while Fionn (3) attends Foxford community Playgroup.
Mark, who has traded as an Architect, and Internet Virtual Tour Consultancy, in London for the past ten years, has now established a new office in Foxford, and can be contacted on 094-57054.
The Foxford Community wish to extend every success to Mark and Teresita, and their children, on taking up residency, and establishing a new business in our area.
EUROPEAN SAFETY WEEK
In conjunction with European Safety week which takes place from 14th to 18th October a series of Informal Sessions regarding a life style approach to stress management will take place in the Teaching Centre, Aras Attracta, Swinford on October 16th and 17th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The sessions will include a Personality test, Diet, Conflict resolution, Visualisaton - clearing the deck, Deep breathing techniques, relaxation tapes, autogenics, and meditation yoga. The Facilitators are accredited by the Irish Institute of Stress Management.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING
The annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place in the Church of Ireland, Foxford on Sunday, October 20th commencing at 7 p.m. The special preacher will be Fr. Kevin Hegarty. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is most welcome to this special occasion.

QUIZ NIGHT
A Quiz night in aid of the Foxford Community Playgroup, will take place in Clarkes Bar, Foxford, on Friday, October 25th commencing at 10 p.m. The entry fee for the Quiz is twenty euro per team, and lots of prizes will be on offer also. So come along to what promises to be a night of great fun, in aid of a worthy cause in the community.
NEW YORK TRIP
Moy Davitts GAA Club are travelling to New York on Thursday next and will return on Sunday, October 27th. The trip was initially planned to take place in September 2001, however due to the tragic events that unfolded on September 11th of that year, the trip was postponed. There are two main functions planned to take place.
On Sunday afternoon, October 20th, Moy Davitts play host club Mayo New York, in either Gaelic Park, or Vancoholan Park. A function in The Leinster House, central Avenue, Yonkers, will take place following this match. In addition to this a further function will be held in the Beacon Tavern, Massputh, Queens.
Indeed many exiles from the Bohola/Foxford areas are eagerly awaiting this forthcoming trip by Moy Davitts. The Foxford Community wish Moy Davitts GAA club every success on their trip to New York.
HERITAGE CENTRES
Part Three: Ceide Fields Visitor Centre
The Ceide Fields in Ballycastle, North Mayo, are the oldest known field systems in the world. The remains of stone fields walls, houses, and megalithic tombs, are preserved beneath a blanket of peat, encompassing an area of several square miles.
Visitors to the multi-award winning Centre, which facilities include exhibitions, audio-visual show, professional Guides, can experience the unique ecology of the bogland, and discover the fascination story of the Ceide Fields for yourself. Access for visitors with disabilities is available to the ground floor, and the tearooms.

FOXFORD’S CRAFT FAIR
The annual Woollen Mills Craft Fair will be held the weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th of December 2002. This year’s Craft Fair promises to be an equally busy and exciting event as previous years undoubtedly were.
