‘Mondo’ stars in Time Tree Bower
THE hugely entertaining Lime Tree Bower comes to the Theatre Royal from March 8-12, starring some of Ireland’s brightest acting talents.
Written by award-winning author Conor McPherson, directed by Michael Scott and starring George McMahon (Mondo from Fair City), Peter Gaynor and Mark O’Brien, this touching story of coming of age in a small town is sure to grab your attention.
Telling the story of three young men, Joe, a bored schoolboy who longs for adventure and a bit of romance; his friend Damien and his brother Frank, typical situations of daily life are presented to the audience in a touching and amazing way, drawing you into the story line.
Speaking about his character Joe, George McMahon says: “Joe is a very lonely character, who doesn’t really feel he belongs. He’s scarred by the absence of his mother who died four years before and he feels he is missing something in his life. He tries to clutch onto things and even starts smoking to fit in.”
The play is superbly written and offers aspects for all, from teenagers to regular theatre goers. “It’s a great play with a huge mix of emotions”, said the Fair City Star.
“Conor is a fantastic writer and the script really keeps you on the edge of your seat. You’ll laugh and cry, there is a huge mix of emotions and it is one of the most challenging things I have done as an actor but I’m really enjoying it.”
Presented by City Theatre Dublin, tickets for Lime Tree Bower are available at the Theatre Royal Box office on 051 – 874402.
