Easkey - No winner
There was no winner of the Easkey Community Council lotto jackpot ~ on Friday night last., The numbers drawn were 1, 5,13, 26. The consolation prize winners were Lisa Forde, Jacinta Mullen, Michael Gordon, Shirley Massie and Shane McGowan. The promoters prize went to Annie Gibson. Next week the jackpot will be E6300 and the draw will take place in the Hilltop Culleens. Recent Death: The death took place after a brief illness on Sunday last of Mrs Pearl Kenny of Carrenrod Easkey. Deceased was a popular local resident and her passing caused deep regret in the local area. Formerly Pearl Rafter, she was predeceased by her husband James and is survived by her sons, daughters and by other relations. Her remains were removed from McGowan's Funeral Home Ballina on Tuesday evening and burial took place in Roslea Cemetery following Requiem Mass on Wednesday. Recent Wedding: The wedding took place in the Star of the Sea Church, Rathlee, on Saturday last of Seamus Hanley, son of James and Bridget Hanley of Rathlee and Andrea Dermody of Celbridge Co. Kildare. The ceremony was preformed by Fr, Kevin Loftus P.P. assisted by Fr. Tom Sweeney. The reception took place in the Downhill Hotel Ballina. Eucharistic Ministers: The following are the eucharistic ministers in the Easkey parish at Masses this weekend. Vigil Mass on Saturday evening in Easkey Church Margaret Kilcullen and Sr. Aine and on Sunday morning Ann Kenny and Molly Kennedy. Vigil Mass in Rathlee Church on Saturday evening Christine Kirby and on Sunday morning Maureen Sloyane. Clothes Collection: There will be a clothes collection to help the African Missions from Rathlee Church grounds and Easkey Church car park on this Wednesday November 10 before 12 noon. People are asked not to leave bags until the morning of collection. All types of clean and dry ladies and gents and children's clothing as well as bed linen, curtains, towels and shoes would be appreciated. PTAA Meeting: The monthly meeting of the Tireragh P.T.A.A, Regional Council took place in the Castleconnor Community Centre last week. Arrangements were made for the national school table quiz. It will be held for all schools in the barony on Tuesday night, December 7 in Dromore West Community Centre commencing at 8.30pm. It will be for teams of four and the quiz will be followed by a disco. The Annual Dinner Dance will be held in early February. The next meeting will take place in Skreen on Wednesday night, November 17 commencing at 9pm and all centres are requested to send delegates. Public Meeting: A well attended public meeting in relation to the Rural Social Scheme took place in the Easkey Surfing Centre on Wednesday night last. Prayer Evening: An evening of prayer for the Holy Souls will be held in St. James' Church Easkey on next Monday evening, November l5 commencing at 8pm.
