Glenamaddy - Public meeting to discuss appearance of town
Glenamaddy Town Enhancement Committee will hold a public meeting this Thursday, April 14th in the Community Centre, Glenamaddy at 8.30 p.m.
Mark Molloy, Environmental Education Officer with Galway County Council will attend. It is hoped to have a good discussion on how best the appearance of the town can be. All are invited. Glenamaddy Town Enhancement Committee have planned a Spring Clean Day for Saturday, April 23rd at 11 a.m. at the Community Centre. Your cooperation would be appreciated.
Knock Pilgrimage St Patrick’s Church Centenary Committee is pleased to announce plans to visit Knock Shrine on Sunday, April 17th to conclude the church centenary celebrations. A hard-working committee is currently putting arrangements in place for a very special parish pilgrimage to the nearby Marian Shrine. Transport will be organised (which is optional) and Mass will be celebrated by Canon Goaley in Knock at 6 p.m., followed by Rosary and the Stations of The Cross. It promises to be a memorable occasion and should be a worthwhile experience. There is also an option to finish the evening with a dinner at Knock House Hotel. Everyone is invited. Garden Competition The Glenamaddy/Boyounagh Gun Club has decided to hold a vegetable garden competition open to anybody in the parish. A first prize of € 500, 2nd prize of €250 and 3rd prize of €150 will go to the gardens that best facilitate feeding for wildlife. Minimum size of garden should be 60 ft x 40 ft (240 sq ft). Gardens will be judged in July. Bereavements Please pray for: Luke Gannon, brother of Bridie Brennan, Dunmore Road, who died on Monday last in Birmingham; Mary Keaveney, Kiltullagh, who died during the week at Merlin Park Hospital. Sympathy to families, relatives and friends. Glenamaddy NS Enrolment forms for new pupils starting school next September are now available from the school office from Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next week. Also sincere thanks to all, inside the parish and outside, who so kindly collected Building for the Future tokens for the school. Enough tokens have now been collected to qualify for the TV/DVD combi unit.
Ladies Football U-14 training on Mondays at 6 p.m.. U-16 training at 7 p.m. on Mondays. Congratulations to Cliona Gannon and Dunmore Community School Senior Girls on winning the AllIreland final last Tuesday. Cliona is the first girl from the club to win an All-Ireland medal. Thanks to Teresa Hanley, Mary Murphy, Ann Curtin and who organised the ceili for the club recently.
Community Games Boys and Girls U-13 indoor soccer. Entry for this competition will take place on Thursday at 6.30 p.m. in the Community Centre. Closing date for this competition is very shortly so it is very important to attend if interested.
