Women claim the best sex is in marriage
By Tom Whitehead FORGET young, free and single, the best sex is in marriage, a survey of 2,000 women has revealed.
Two thirds of women quizzed said tying the knot was the surest way to hot nights between the sheets and admitted the best sex they ever had was within wedlock.
The saucy survey, by health and beauty magazine Top Sante, also showed sex need never be boring with 65% claiming their love life never went off the boil, even in long-term relationships.
Magazine editor Juliette Kellow said: “This survey turns on its head the idea the best sex is when we are footloose, fancy free.
“The truth is, truly great sex and deep intimacy are most likely to happen within the trusting, committed environment of marriage or a long-term relationship.”
Love and affection are the most important parts of a relationship, according to 83% of women, while 60% say they have sex on average nine times a month.
Eighty-two per cent say it is possible to stay faithful forever, but 74% criticise television for sending out the wrong message.
EastEnders is named as the No1 marriage wrecker for implying infidelity is the norm while Sex And The City, Trisha and Jerry Springer also come under flak.
One in 20 women surveyed said they got married because they were pregnant, 16% for lust, and 5% because they “were not getting any younger”.
Stress at work is the biggest reason for driving down sexual desire, according to 45%, while 55% want more sex.
Ms Kellow added: “Having great sex isn’t just enjoyable, it can actually improve your health.
“An active sex life can give your body a good workout, ease stress, boost your immune system, increase confidence and even slow down the ageing process.”
